Dynamic left ventricular outflow tract obstruction in critical illness : etiology-driven management and the role of bedside transthoracic echocardiography

LVOTO is a potentially fatal condition that is not uncommon in critically ill patients. It has diverse pathophysiological mechanisms that may lead to completely opposite management strategies. It should be stressed that almost all hypotensive patients in contemporary ICUs should receive bedside TTE as a standard of care. This imaging modality is a crucial tool for early detection of the condition, enabling real-time treatment monitoring and providing critical decision-making support, which can significantly improve patient outcomes.
